A large explosion in the Russian ammunition depot east of Moscow

The explosion at a ammunition warehouse took place in a defense facility in the western region of Vladimir on Tuesday. The site is thought to be a major object for storing ammunition for the Russian army.

The Russian military reported about the explosions, saying the ammunition had exploded after the storage building had ignited due to “safety disorders”, state media reported.

In the Kirjah area, a state of emergency has been declared and residents of nearby villages have been evacuated.

Both Russian and Ukrainian media channels and telegram accounts have posted videos and photos from the site showing a flame with flames with high meters and mushrooms clouds of the explosion.

Russian media reported that the Ministry of Defense said: “As a result of a fire on the territory of a military unit in the region, Vladimir ammunition is stored in a warehouse.”

The site is a facility in the 51st arsenal of the main missile and artillery directorate, about 130 kilometers (80 miles) northeast of the Russian capital, local media reported.

The governor of the region Vladimir said that an explosion had occurred in the district and more details would be released later.

Alexander Avdeev also threatened journalists and residents with fines if they share unofficial explosion information.
