A a Texas youth is facing criminal charges after being accused of killing a rival's goat a few months ago.
An affidavit shows 17-year-old Aubrey Vanlandingham, who competes in livestock with her goat, allegedly admitted to poisoning Willy, a young competitor's goat. CBS Austin reports.
Vanlandingham is accused of using a drench gun to feed Willy pesticide inside the Vista Ridge High School barn on Oct. 23, eventually killed a 6-month-old goat, according to the agency. Security footage is said to have shown the goat trying to escape the meeting.
It is said that the youth was seen leaving Willy and came back to check on him twice in the space of two hours before he called his opponent's mother to tell her that the goat was not doing well.

Willy died in his owner's arms within 24 hours after suffering respiratory depression, CBS Austin reported.
Vanlandingham allegedly admitted to killing his rival's goat because he thought the 15-year-old was a “trickster,” the agency reported in an arrest affidavit. He had it he tried to kill Willy first, but it did not succeed.

The cause of Willy's death was determined to be organophosphate alcohol from phosmet, a pesticide used for external parasite control in animals.
The mother of the 15-year-old girl told the DailyMail that Vanlandingham did not seem upset.
“It's all very strange. We want justice to be done, we don't want to slap a hand. We want to make sure he gets punished. At this point, we don't feel like he thinks he's going to get punished and He needs to take care of himself for what he did,” he told the outlet, adding that they want him to go to jail to get mental help.

A police investigation by phone Vanlandingham revealed that he allegedly sought information about lethal doses of bleach for animals and poisoning methods, according to CBS Austin. He is also said to have searched for “a way to clear browsing history.”
The 15-year-old's mother concluded that Vanlandingham's crime was motivated by jealousy, not cheating.
“You can't even cheat when it comes to showing goats,” he told the DailyMail. “It doesn't make sense, so that's where jealousy really comes down.”

Vanlandingham was accused of abuse livestock; which is a felony in Texas punishable by up to two years in prison. He was arrested on Nov. 22. and was released on a $5,000 bond the same day, jail records show.
His court date is set for January 15.
