Rob Shepherd recently received a holiday potluck but with a new spin: soup.
The Virginia pastor even made up his own party name for his party.
“Soup was a fun addition to our small church group,” Shepherd told Fox News Digital in an interview. We meet weekly for Bible study, and this was ours Christmas party as a team.”

Normally, he said, the group holds a potluck, but this year they were open to new ideas.
“My wife, who is a teacher, rejected the idea of anyone coming soup sharing,” recalls Shepherd, who is the lead pastor at Next Level Church in Yorktown, Virginia.

The idea was a winner. But the next issue was how the guests would enjoy the soup at the potluck.
That led to another great cooking idea.
“My wife shared the idea that she should bring tin cans to put cups of soup in so that it would be easier to eat different soups,” said Shepherd. “There are six couples in our group – so we had five different soups, and one couple brought dessert.”

The muffin tins proved to be a clever serving idea Choice of soup: tomato, greens, broccoli cheese, sausage tortellini and chicken tortilla.
“They were all delicious, but my favorite was the broccoli cheese soup,” Shepherd said.
Shepherd was so excited about the potluck that she decided to share her thoughts on social media.

He said: “There can be a lot of skepticism on the internet and one of my goals is to provide good news.
Shepherd said he continued on TikTok in 2020 “just because I had a lot of time on my hands.”

“I post games, recipes and family fun,” Shepherd said.
And his soup post was hot.
“I didn't expect it to go as viral as it has. There are 3 million views on TikTok and 3.9 million on Instagram,” Shepherd told Fox News Digital last week. ago.
Before you send video on Instagram, he had 1,500 followers. After the video, it went up to 15,000 followers.

“I am pleased with the response,” he said.

There were thousands of comments on the post, but Shepherd cited two of his favorites.

Not only is Shepherd happy that her potluck soup theme was well received, she is also surprised by the reach of her post.

“I'm constantly getting messages from friends who have been sent a soup video by their friends, and they're so excited to let their friends know that they know me in real life,” Shepherd said.
