In a surprising turn of events, a groom named Mehtab abandons his wedding due to a delay in food delivery, shocking the bride and her family. The incident took place during a wedding that had been arranged seven months ago, which began with traditional ceremonies on December 22.
According to reports, the bride's family welcomed the groom's party with sweets and prepared a grand dinner. However, according to the Economic Times, tensions flared when a member of the groom's party accused the hosts of delaying the offering of bread. Attempts to defuse the situation failed, and the groom's party stormed out. Soon, Mehtab is reportedly married to a relative, adding to the bride's humiliation.
Later, the bride lodged a complaint with the Industrial Nagar police station and expressed her concern over the incident. After receiving no action from the local authorities, her family took the issue to the District Superintendent of Police on December 24.
The bride's family says the groom's family has suffered a financial loss of Rs 7 lakh, including Rs 1.5 lakh paid as dowry. The bride has requested the Superintendent of Police to initiate an FIR against five members of the groom's party seeking legal redressal for their grievances.
Frustrated with the inefficiency of the police, the bride's brother Raju criticized the local law enforcers for failing to respond effectively despite assurances from the Superintendent of Police. He expressed disappointment over Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's promised initiatives to set up women's help centers at police stations, especially with a view to redressal of grievances.
