Activision describes a match in recorded play for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer

Ranked play is alive in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer. And Activision has decided to explain how it works when it comes to Ranked Play gaming, which is different from non-standard, or standard match.

Ranked Play arrived as part of Season 01, accessible to all players who have won 50 total games in multiplayer.

Matchmaking Ranked Play

Activision has explained the Ranked Play match.

While Activision's Call of Duty team previously shared more details and technical white paper about how matchmaking works in Call of Duty multiplayer, Ranked Play matchmaking uses some unique methods to take player rank and skill level into account while they find the best.
connection

Ranked Play considers three main search parameters when making matches: player connection quality, search time, and skill relative to the rest of the available players. When creating Ranked Play matches, Activision allows longer search times to improve game quality.

Competitive Integrity Restrictions

These features include all the ways in which the devs preserve competitive integrity in Ranked Play. Restrictions are set to ensure a fair and competitive experience for all players. In-game features like load restrictions are designed to even the playing field, while match restrictions help balance lobbying before the game.

Connection – As previously shared, connection is an essential factor in the matching process.

Rank, Skill, Achievement – Players can progress through eight levels. Ranked matchmaking attempts to match players of the same or similar level. The range of acceptable levels will expand if there are not enough players available to create a high quality match in the current target range.

Each player's individual skill level plays an important role in Ranked Play matchmaking. The team starts their Ranked Play game searches with a small target skill level difference between players and expands the range of what is acceptable over time. Matching players of similar skill levels in Ranked Play gives everyone a chance to make an impact in the game.

Time to match – This factor is to ensure that players spend more time playing the game and less time waiting for games to start. Ranked Play lobbies prioritize competitive integrity, sometimes leading to longer match search times to build a lobby with appropriately matched players.

The core principles of Ranked Play remain the same: Play competitive multiplayer games using the same settings, maps, modes, and weapon limitations as the Call of Duty League. Black Ops 6 Ranked Play comes with several neat features, innovations and updates:

Crossplay: For Ranked Play in Black Ops 6, crossplay is active for all players. This allows the largest
number of potential players to match players with others of the same caliber and skill level. The devs continue to gather feedback from the community, and work closely across all aspects, including addressing reports of cheating with Ricochet, the anti-cheat technology.

Matchmaking: Ranked Play at Launch

Rank matching will continue to place high skill level players in games appropriate for their skill. As more players reach higher levels, we will gradually begin to tighten our match limits.

Entire parties of four can now play together in Ranked Play regardless of their individual level. However, skill matching will be based on the highest ranked player in the party. Party skill restrictions still apply to parties consisting of two or three players.

Updated Rank System

The 1-50 level and skill division system seen in previous versions of Ranked Play has been combined into a single Rank system. Earn SR and progress through 8 levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, Iridescent, and Top 250. The advanced status and Victory Stars system seen in previous Ranked Play installments have been removed to streamline knowledge and focus on skill.

What is SR?

Skill level: Progress through Ranks by earning SR by winning Ranked Play games. SR is awarded after each Ranked Play win and the amount earned is determined by the player's distance from their projected Rank, their game performance, and margin the victory. SR is issued after loss. SR determines your status.

Update: Loss Forgiveness: Regardless of your level, every player will be forgiven for the first loss of the day and will not take away SR. This does not stack. In addition, the three game loss forgiveness earned when promoted to a new level or at the start of the season now only counts down after a loss.

If both teams ban the same option, the map/game mode will be randomly selected from the two disagreed options.
