Across Africa this week, voodoo believers in Benin marry traditional faith with contemporary creativity to spread their heritage. For decades the African manatee has come under pressure from poaching and shrinking habitats but a Cameroon biologist is working to improve the freshwater animal's prospects. Senegal is pushing ahead with plans to put more of its identity on main streets and has begun renaming places named after French colonial figures.
