Apple Fitness+ gets Strava integration and new workouts


Apple kicks off 2025 with a new wave of updates Apple Fitness+. This time, the company is not only adding new content to the service's yoga, strength training and meditation programs, but also offering new integration with another popular fitness app: Strava.

If there's any problem with Fitness+'s offerings up to this point, it's that they're primarily aimed at beginners. Peak yoga poses may be one way to make a difference. Apple is adding yoga-style workshops that focus on specific, challenging yoga poses, such as Dancer or Crow. “Each pose has a 10-minute warm-up phase for users to warm up,” Apple says, followed by a “corresponding 10-minute workout.” You can use the tutorial to hone your skills and hopefully end up with a challenging pose.

If strength training is more your thing, Fitness+ also offers a new three-week progressive strength training program that Apple calls the Ultimate Three Weeks of Strength. The program consists of a dozen 30-minute workouts: the first week is dedicated to Progressive Overload, the second is Time Under Tension, and the third is Dynamic Power. Apple says it designed the program to be repeatable, so you can do it again with different weights as you get stronger. Don't expect it to be as detailed as Peloton's New Strength Training Appbut it's nice to have more options.

One of the most exciting new features in this update is the integration of Fitness+ with Strava. When you share a Fitness+ workout on Strava, the app will now display data such as the Fitness+ workout you did or the trainer who led it, in addition to your usual health metrics. Apple is also offering Strava subscribers up to three months of Fitness+ at no extra cost, as well as some clever cross-promotion.

Along with these new additions are a number of other new features, such as an introductory course on breathing meditation, a selection of workouts designed for pickleball training, and a new list of celebrity-led Apple programs. Time to go audio stories and workout playlists featuring Janet Jackson (January 13), Coldplay (January 20), Bruno Mars (January 27) and Kendrick Lamar (February 3).
