Apple shareholders have rejected the attempt to exert pressure on the trend of technology to scrap corporate programs designed to diversify the workforce.
A proposal developed by the National Center for Public Policy Research-Social conservative Think-Tank-APPE to track the Litany of high-profile companies that have withdrawn from diversity, capital and integration, now to the sight of US President Donald Donald Atut.
After a short presentation about the Anti-Dei proposal, Apple announced that the shareholders rejected it without revealing the number of votes. Preliminary results will be outlined in the regulatory Tuesday.
The shareholders' voting Tuesday took place a month after the same group presented a similar proposal during the annual Costco meeting, only to reject it in the most part. A similar result was expected during the annual Apple meeting despite the voice of critics.
Like Costco, Apple steadily stood behind the variety and inclusion efforts that its management makes sense.
However, the National Center for Public Policy Research attacked Apple's obligations for diversity for being not in line with the latest court rulings and stated that the programs reveal the Cupertino company in California on the attack of potential lawsuits regarding alleged discrimination. The group has estimated that about 50,000 Apple employees can submit cases against Apple without a description of how they reached this number.
“It is obvious that Dei provides court, reputational and financial proceedings for companies, and therefore financial risk for their shareholders, and therefore a further risk for companies for the fact that they are not observed by their fiduciary obligations,” he says in his proposal of the National Center for Public Policy Research.
Apple went against the proposal
The specter of potential legal problems was increased last week, when Florida Prosecutor General James Uthmeier filed a federal lawsuit against Target, who recently accused Dei of Dei, with the alienation of many consumers and undercutting sales to the damage to shareholders.
Apple, in connection with the Anti-Dei proposal, said that its program is an integral part of culture that helped to raise the company to the current market value by 3.7 trillion USD-largest than any other business in the world.
Apple announced on Monday that it plans to invest over $ 500 billion in the United States over the next four years, including employment plans of 20,000 people and build a new server factory in Texas.
“We believe that the way we act is just as important for Apple's success as creating the best products in the world,” said the company in its statement against the proposal. “We try to run an ethical business, honestly and in accordance with applicable regulations and regulations.”
In the last report on the diversity and integration issued in 2022, Apple revealed that almost three -quarters of the global workforce consisted of white and Asian employees. Almost two -thirds of his employees are men.
Other main technology companies have been employing mainly white and Asian men for years, especially in highly paid engineering places-which encouraged the industry to implement what is largely unsuccessful efforts to diversify.
