Apple says it's working on the next generation of AirPods Pro, and they could have some new health features. BloombergThis is Mark Gurman. IN In a newsletter this weekend, Gurman reports that Apple is testing features like temperature measurement and heart rate monitoring for headphones. For now, Apple has found that the Apple Watch still performs better on the latter tasks, but the AirPods “are not far behind” in their performance, he writes.
The company has also reportedly revived the idea of putting cameras in AirPods, a rumor we've heard several times over the past year. According to Gurman, Apple now considers this a “priority” as it works to develop its artificial intelligence services. But it will likely be years before any camera-equipped AirPods debut. As for heart rate monitoring, it may appear much earlier. Gurman writes: “This capability may be ready for the next-generation AirPods Pro, which are in early development.”
