Finding a place to rent in India is not an easy task. Cramped spaces, high rents and unnecessary curfews all make renting an empty lot a monster that many people have to deal with. Even members of the showbiz industry are not exempt from it.
Actress Yamini Malhotra, a popular name in showbiz who participated in Bigg Boss 18, shared her painful experience while looking for a place on rent.
The actor, known for her bold personality and flamboyant presence on television, revealed the challenges she faced trying to find a home in the city.
“Are you Hindu or Muslim?” In a heartfelt note, Yamini shared how landlords and agents asked questions like. or “Gujarati or Marwari?” It confused and upset her.
Posting on Instagram, the actor described her plight and asked, “Being an actor doesn't mean I deserve a house? It's shocking how these questions still exist in 2025. Can we call this the city of dreams if dreams come with conditions? ”
She also revealed that landlords hesitate to rent a house to her just because she is an actor. It is difficult for her to secure a place as many landlords are reluctant to rent to people in the industry.
Although Mumbai is known as the 'city of dreams', the actress highlighted the irony of how some dreams come with conditions, especially for actors.
She has also featured in Main Teri Tu Mera, and the 2016 Telugu film Chuttalabbai.
Yamini had entered Bigg Boss 18 as a wildcard contestant. Within weeks, she moved out. The television reality show hosted by Salman Khan ended on January 19 with Karan Vir Mehra lifting the winner's trophy.
Earlier, another Bigg Boss 17 contestant, Khanzaadi, highlighted her challenges in finding accommodation in Mumbai, citing religious discrimination as a significant obstacle. She expressed her frustration that landlords were rejecting her because of her Muslim background. Khansadi emphasized the importance of finding a safe place to live, especially as she is alone without any family in Mumbai.
