The New York City Police Department is investigating after a baby was dumped in a bag near a Bronx apartment building.
Police responded to a 911 call just after 6 a.m. Sunday for a crying baby and found someone had placed the little girl wrapped in blankets in a tote bag and left the bag in next to an apartment building on Reverend James A. Polite Avenue, according to authorities.
The NYPD said baby, who has not been identified, was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals / Jacobi in stable condition and remains under the care of hospital staff.
“Hearing that this is a big concern in this area,” a local resident told FOX 5 NY.

A baby girl was left in a green tote bag in the Bronx, according to police.
The department shared a video surveillance showing a person wearing a dark coat walking along the side of the road with a green bag.
A speaker with department told Fox News Digital on Monday that the suspect's gender is “unclear at this time” and released the video to the public.

They added that there was nothing left with the child in the bag.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the person responsible. A suspect is wanted abandoning the child.
