Bloomingdale's plans to close its flagship store in San Francisco's downtown mall in the coming months.

Bloomingdale's also said that San Francisco “has been home to the brand for nearly two incredible decades” and that it “hopes to return to serve the San Francisco community in the future, and we look forward to introducing new ways to provide our enhanced service.” Loyal local shoppers.”
Michael Kors is closing its downtown San Francisco store
Bloomingdale's upcoming departure, previously reported by local media, follows the closing of its downtown San Francisco store by Michael Kors, a luxury brand known for its clothing and handbags.
In recent years, the San Francisco Center has lost tenants such as Adidas, American Eagle, J.Crew, Modul, Aldo, Nordstrom and Luxitan.

In June, the mall announced it had signed leases for seven new companies. That includes five for retail and two for offices, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

FOX Business reached out to Trident Pacific Real Estate Group, the company that took over the San Francisco center in 2023, and JLL, the company listed on the mall's website as the property manager, for comment on Bloomingdale's exit from the location.
Mayor Daniel Lowery called Bloomingdale's departure “disappointing” in the Post X on Tuesday.

The sprawling Union Square area has seen its share of retail exits over the past few years. The reasons have varied, with some pointing to business conditions, less traffic and changes in the retail sector.
In X's post, Lowry added that he is “energized every day by businesses of all sizes opening and growing in our city” and that the city “continues to work(s) to revitalize the city.” ”
