Bluesky provides tab and username squat protection that appears on the notifications screen.


Social network Bluesky has released a new update to its app that includes a description tab dedicated to notifications; Added protections against username spamming and new controls for reply sorting.

The company announced that it added a new description tab with the v1.96 release to make those posts visible separately. So far all notifications are under one tab.

Bluesky protects against username squatting by saving your original Bluesky username (with the .bsky.social suffix) when you change your username to a custom domain. The platform says it only stores the current Bluesky username and it never expires.

A recent incident It showed that the company faced impersonation issues when people bought domain names and saved usernames with the names of well-known people who were not yet on the platform. A separate account is often created when switching to a custom domain to prevent someone from getting their original Bluesky username.

Bluesky also added a way to show replies below a post. Users can choose between linear and threaded views. They are hot, the oldest the newest You can sort replies using different filters like favorite and random.
