Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has resigned as party leader

I intend to step down as party leader, prime minister, after selecting the party's next leader through a vigorous nationwide competitive process. Last night I asked the president of the Liberal Party to start this process. This country deserves a real choice in the next election, and it's clear to me that if I have to fight internal battles, I can't be the best choice in that election.
