Canadians are traveling. Britain Now need to apply and pay for a Travel Permit – No visa – before entering the country.
gave UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which began on Wednesday, is mandatory for all foreign travelers who do not require a visa to enter the country for short-term visits of up to six months.
The ETA will be an emailed confirmation unlike the visa, which is usually stamped or stuck inside the passport.
An ETA costs around $18 and allows travelers to stay in the UK for a maximum of six months at a time.
It can be obtained online and allows for multiple visits over a two-year period.
“ETAs are digitally linked to a traveler's passport and ensure that people go through stronger security checks before they start traveling to the UK, preventing abuse of our immigration system. I get help.” The UK government states on its website.
Britain says prior authorization is “in line with the approach taken by many other countries, including the US and Australia, to border security.”

Canadian passport holders do not need a tourist visa to stay in the UK for up to six months, but a business visa or work permit or student visa is required.

Canada's Travel Advisory for the United Kingdom States that Canadians will need to apply for an ETA before traveling to or passing through the UK.
Applications for the ETA opened in November 2024 to visitors from dozens of countries, including Canada.
The program will expand to more nationalities in March.
The UK government says the application process takes around three days, but can take longer.
The permit is valid for two years or until the person's passport expires, whichever comes first.
The UK scheme is similar to the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). The launch of which has been delayed.
When ETIAS starts, Canadian passport holders and other visa-exempt nationals are traveling. Any of these 30 European countries A permit must be applied for up to 90 days.
