In an interview with Indie WireThe actress talks about the team's effort to create her dream Batman villain role with LeFranc. “Almost immediately I signed the contract. I talked on the phone with Lauren for hours. With her always advising me on everything. Then I got the first four scripts in,” Milioti said. “I had time to call her and talk to her. And really sit with them and study them. And she walked me through the last four phases in terms of what happened. It was a big event there, but I understood after a while it was signed.”
From the start, Milioti was a game for everything. “I'm a huge Batman fan. It was a lifelong dream of mine to be a Batman villain and really get to show her whole story. For that to come from a woman's brain. You just like the touch. You can feel it,” she said.
The yellow dress launched many Reddit threads on where to find it. It was actually created by costume designer Helen Huang specifically around the time Sofia came into her power. “I had 10,000 fittings for that dress,” she says. “We talked to Helen all the time about what would flow most freely. And for you to see this body language—that was the first time you actually saw her breathe. and feel happiness and feel light…but we still want it to be like that Show all scars And we also know that eventually this gas mask will follow. So I wanted to do something with her eyes where you could see them through the viewfinder of the gas mask.”
Milioti describes Sofia's entrance into the scene as a performance. Her “new war paintings” and signals that “She has changed. Putting those things together is very exciting. And knowing that we were creating this Batman villain. When will you do that?”
Milioti hopes she reprises the role again, as we all do, as there are “endless possibilities” for how Sofia could move forward.
“Of course I'd like to see her leave Arkham, that's like number one. I don't want her in there. I'd like to see her go out there and get revenge,” she said. “Maybe now she's more of a loose cannon, because before it was kind of focused on him and gaining power. But it depends on what happens to her in there. It could be a bigger goal. I wanted to explore that.”
