Costco Teamsters vote to authorize US-wide strike, union says Reuters

(Reuters) – The Teamsters said on Sunday its members at U.S. retailer Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: ) voted in favor of a nationwide strike, as they entered the final round of talks to reach a new contract before a January 31 deadline.

The union, which represents more than eighteen thousand Costco workers, said eighty-five percent (85%) of its members voted to authorize the strike.

“The vote is a direct result of the company's failure to negotiate constructively,” the union said in an X post, adding that the main agreement between the two groups expires on Jan. 31.

Costco did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment outside regular business hours.

The final week of negotiations begins on Jan. 20, the union said in another post X.
