A woman named Seema Agarwal alias Nikki has been arrested by the Jaipur police in Dehradun for allegedly extorting money from her husbands by making false and serious allegations. After her arrest, she was brought to Jaipur and produced before a local court, where she was remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.
According to Muralipur police station station house officer (SHO) Sunil Kumar Jangid, Seema Agarwal is accused of targeting wealthy people through matrimonial websites to get them married and then making serious allegations leading to extortion. Reports indicate that she was involved in several marriages, each of which was followed by allegations of dowry harassment and unnatural sex.
In one unusual case, Seema married a businessman in Agra and later filed a police complaint against him seeking Rs 75 lakh compensation. She got married to a software engineer in Gurugram, and shortly after the marriage, she received Rs 10 lakh.
Investigation revealed that Seema's most recent victim was a jeweler from Jaipur, who reported that after their marriage in February 2023, she pressured him to become a partner in his business. When he refused, she fought with him and fled to Dehradun with jewelery and cash worth Rs 25-30 lakh.
The police's suspicions about Seema's activities were raised when they investigated her history of similar crimes. Acting on the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police West Amit Kumar, a special team was formed to expose her activities, which they named “Operation Looteri Dulhan”.
Seema reportedly confessed to her crimes during interrogation, revealing a pattern of interrogation targeting wealthy divorced men. The Jaipur Police has appealed to any other victims of such tactics to come forward and report their experiences.
