Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said her party was still stuck in its “old ways” as she reacted to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez failed to chair the Democrat Oversight Committee, and suggested that they focus too much on adults.
“While I think they're both absolutely qualified, I think within the Democratic Caucus, we're still stuck in our old ways of doing things, which is that you get there with the adults. So if you've been there a long time, you get a post, and I don't think we sit there completely and say, 'who would be best equipped for this moment?'” Crockett said.
Ocasio-Cortez lost her bid to be the top Democrat on the committee to Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., who measures more. The 74-year-old lawmaker's victory over Ocasio-Cortez was seen as a setback for progressives.
“I think America is looking at us and saying, wait a minute, we lost the election, and we know the Senate lost seats, so, the House we took, right? But I think they said, we're looking to all of you to show us that you're willing to shake it up if it means we can move this country forward,” Crockett said.

AOC'S LOSS OF HOUSE COMMITTEE SEAT APPEARS FRIENDLY CHOICE FOR DEMOCRATS
Crockett said the Oversight Committee would be in good hands under Connolly, but said frequent leadership changes would benefit Democrats.
“I think that in the council we're going to have discussions about how we do leadership, because on the Republican side, they have term limits, so you can't stay in those seats for a long time, so they end up they sent their leadership a lot more often than we do on the democratic side,” he said.
Ocasio-Cortez's loss was criticized by several members of the media, including MSNBC's Jen Psaki, who said it was a clear opportunity for Democrats to show they had learned from the election results.
“This is one of the few congressional committees that actually generates national attention or media coverage. Under Jamie Raskin, it became an important platform for countering Republican misinformation. Although I have and deep, deep respect to Speaker Pelosi…and nothing against Congressman Connolly at all, this felt like a clear opportunity to apply some of the lessons we could have learned them in the November elections,” said Why?

Psaki added that Democrats have passed “one of the youngest, most media-savvy members of Congress for an important role in public leadership.”
MSNBC's Chris Hayes too it hurt the Democrats for transferring the AOC, and signed former Speaker of the House Pelosi specifically to beat Connolly's election.
“But then Pelosi whipped up an election to make sure Connolly gets the Oversight job over a young star at the party, even as the 84-year-old Pelosi is recovering from hip surgery after a fall. It feels like a real crazy moment,” Hayes said. “And the Democrats are not taking this seriously, despite everything that has happened. But they need to.”

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin also decried Ocasio-Cortez's loss and spoke in favor of her progressive policies, which she argued should be popular among of all Americans.
“He's demonized by the right, and he's demonized as a very progressive person, and I want to try to set the record straight because if he goes too far, then the Democrats are going to lose a lot. working class, ” Hostin said Wednesday.
