Washington was nominated for best performance by a male actor in a supporting role for his portrayal of Macrinus in an action film.

Washington hinted at his exit from Hollywood after completing several film projects.
In November, the Academy Award-winning actor announced in Australia “Today” show that he is about to end his career in Hollywood.
“For me, it's about the filmmaker, especially at this point in my career,” Washington said.
“I'm only interested in working with the best. I don't know how many movies I'll do – maybe not many. I want to do things I haven't done.”
He continued to talk about his upcoming roles, including Shakespeare's “Othello” on Broadway. Washington first portrayed the character when he was 22 and plans to play Othello for the third time in a film adaptation.

Washington has also lined up several other projects, including the role of the general Carthaginian Hannibal in the upcoming Netflix project, collaborating with director Steve McQueen in the film and having a role in the third film “Black Panther”.
The actor has announced that he will once again play the character of King Lear in another film.
“After that, I'm going to retire,” Washington said.
While Washington sent his ardent fans into a frenzy over rumors of his retirement, he clarified his feelings days after the “Today” interview.
“I never said I was going to retire,” he said told BuzzFeed. “I said it has to be an interest level for me. I'm very interested in getting behind the camera, so it's about five years out.”
“It's very difficult. And I might have used the word 'retirement,' but I look at life in three parts: you study, you earn money, you come back. I'm in the return part of life.”

While Washington arrived in good spirits and paused to take photos with fans, his evening took a turn for the worse upon his exit.
As he entered, Washington quickly turned around and approached a group of fans seeking autographs.
In a video obtained by Fox News Digital, Washington can be heard saying, “Put this down. I heard you. You're talking about showing love … respect me.”

“We always do,” one supporter replied.
“I said, 'I'll see you when I get out.' What part of that don't you understand?” Washington said.
“Or no, or no! We can do it one way. I can do it two ways, y'all,” he added before going inside.
It is unclear what prompted the exchange.

Washington was baptized by Bishop James Pullings Jr. at the Kelly Temple in New York City.
“It took a while, but I'm finally here… If (God) can do this for me, there's nothing he can't do for me,” Washington said, according to a video shared online. “The sky is literally the limit.”

“I'm free now. It's not talked about in this town. It's not talked about… It's not fashionable. It's not cool. But that doesn't mean people in Hollywood don't believe. There's no such thing as Hollywood. What that means, to me, is a street called Hollywood Boulevard,” he wrote.
Washington got his breakthrough role in the medical drama “St. Elsewhere,” in 1982. He received many nominations for his work on the show and eventually managed to break into the movie.
Washington is known for films such as “Fences,” “The Book of Eli,” “Cry Freedom” and “Malcom X.”

Washington also had an unforgettable encounter with King Charles III during the premiere of “Gladiator II”.
In November, Lord Charles saluted the band “Gladiator II” at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London.
During the meet and greet, members of the team, including Washington, Pedro Pascal and Paul Mescal, as well as director Sir Ridley Scott, met King Charles one by one. However, Washington appeared nervous when he met the royal king.
“I didn't know if I should hold your hand or not,” Washington smiled as he took Charles's hand.
