DJI released two new Karls with a smartphone, Osmo Mobile 7 and 7pWith the latter, offering native tracking of applications both on Android and iOS thanks to the “multifunctional module”. This function is clearly designed to compete Insta360's Flow 2 Prowhich Until yesterday Only tracking the native application on the iPhone via Dockkit from Apple is proposed.
The main differences between Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P are that the latter comes with a multifunction module, while Osmo Mobile 7 is not (although it can be purchased separately later, if you change your mind). Osmo Mobile 7P also has a built -in extension cord, which is absent on Osmo Mobile 7. Given what has been said, the products look very similar and have the same folding design that is postponed from Osmo Mobile 6The field with a key addition to both is that the tripod is now built into the frame (as on the stream 2 Pro), so you no longer need to screw the accessory, as before.
DJI sent me Osmo Mobile 7P for testing, so I will refer to this product. As in the case of Osmo Mobile 6, it is mainly designed as a three-axle pocket to smooth out a smartphone video better than the camera of your mobile device could ever, with the ability to shoot as in the “Tilt” and “FPV” modes for or stable or more dynamic personnel. At the same time, you can control the direction of the cardch using the built -in joystick.
It also monitors the subjects automatically, and it is here that the multifunctional module appears. On Osmo Mobile 6, automatic tracking of items worked only with the DJI Mimo Camera application. Now, with a new module connected to your smartphone, Osmo Mobile 7P can automatically track your subject (using gestures) in almost any application both on Android devices and on the iPhone.
This is how it works. The multifunctional module can be installed either forward for the main camera or back for the selfie camera. This is the size Mick DJI 2And has a built -in camera for tracking with LED light. It also works as a receiver for DJI Min Mini microphones.
With the module installed on the side of the frame and connected through the USB-C cable to your phone, just open the application of the application (I tried applications on my own cells on the iPhone 16 and Pixel 7a, as well as Zoom, Google Chat and Blackmagic camera). Then just hold your palm to the camera or make your subject, and tracking will start automatically, as indicated by the green light on the module, and then hold two fingers to start and stop the recording. Interestingly, Insta360 has just released a similar module for its Gimbal Flow 2 Pro, called You have a tracker This performs the same function. Until now, the Native tracking of applications on Flow 2 Pro worked on the iPhone only through the Apple Dockkit function, so Android users are not lucky. The new Insta360 module brings the same set of functions for Android users, albeit worth $ 40, or in a package with Flow 2 Pro at $ 180.
This really asks whether DJI will introduce DockKit support for Osmo Mobile 7/7P, as this will allow iPhone users to get the advantage of tracking the module without the need to pay for it. Nevertheless, DJI is still a mother on this issue.
Other functions on both Karllah include a 10-hour battery life, and when the boot is not used, it works as a catering bank for charging your phone. With the DJI MIMO application, tracking supports many people in the stage, as well as for pets, and you can easily switch objects by clicking on the tracking field. The MIMO application also supports panoramic survey, dynamic zoom and other intellectual functions, as well as control of scaling/focus through the side wheel, which also activates the bay.
And, of course, the multifunctional Osmo Mobile 7P module works as a receiver for Mic Mini Min DJI transmitter for $ 59Therefore, if you have one of them, you will get a much better sound quality than from your phone, there is a great advantage over the Flow 2 Pro.
Given the rivalry with Insta360, Osmo Mobile 7/7P is an interesting addition to the DJI line, especially in the light of a very similar new Ai Flow 2 Pro module.
