Donald Trump says it is “an absolute necessity” for our country to have Greenland.
He says yes US should take return to the Panama Canal unless “ridiculous” shipping rates are dropped.
He was shocked by that Any republic those who opposed him on the bill to avoid a government shutdown can and should start.
The president-elect finds his reputation as a troublemaker, who has enough influence over what is now his own party to carefully blow up bipartisan deals. Let's look at each of them.
HOW PRESIDENT-ELECT TRUMP CAN PRESENT THE 'FARMENT OF THE CENTURY' WHEN HE ENTERS OFFICE
Trump tried in his first term to buy Greenland, ie controlled by Denmark but under his rule. That didn't go anywhere, though it caused political problems with Danish officials.
When the US was building the Panama Canal in the early 20th century, it was transferred to Panama under a treaty that was accepted by both countries. The President of Panama Jose Raul Mulino said that “every square meter of the Panama Canal and the area around it belongs to Panama and will continue to be so. The sovereignty and independence of our country are not mutually exclusive .”
That didn't stop Trump from posting an AI image of an American flag flying over a supposed canal waterway.
The incoming president has certainly shown the ability to make fundamental challenges to those who cross him. But several Republicans are determined to vote for him against the government shutdown bill, including in the final passage, which dropped his demand to remove the debt ceiling during his term. Was he really going to start an election campaign against them all?
So the biggest possibility is that the situation in Greenland, the Panama Canal and the rebel Republic will not change in the second period.
The reason Trump is doing this is that it reinforces his role as an agitator, someone who takes on a weak establishment in Washington, even though the presidency is, by definition, the new establishment.

After all, whether he makes extreme demands or not, Trump shapes, and often controls, the news. As the 47th president admitted to me, he sometimes crosses the line because he knows it will stir up strong media attention. As Trump sees it, even bad news it provides good protection because the press is playing on his board.
And sometimes these are just negotiating conditions to win deals, like the threatened 25 percent tariffs against Canada and Mexico.
Remember, most people outside the media-politics do not follow these events with much enthusiasm. Since the government didn't shut down, they don't see it as a setback for Trump that he didn't get most of what he wanted. They probably don't remember that he tried to buy Greenland first.
What Trump clearly has the power to do is carefully blow up bipartisan agreements. He did it after Speaker Mike Johnson – whose future is in doubt because, like Kevin McCarthy before him, he had no votes – let the bill get away from being the shadow of a Christmas tree.
And he did it during the campaign when both parties agreed on a tough border enforcement deal, which was criticized by Trump's opposition.
But it is clear that there are limits to Trump's ability to create events, especially with the country. For thirty Republicans to oppose him on an important issue as the debt ceiling shows that he can push his party so far.

Rep. Nancy Mace, a Trump supporter who voted against him on the last bill — told me on Sunday's Media Buzz that she wanted to keep the bill out.
But with the GOP clinging to a 1-vote House edge, for now, the campaign rhetoric is still up against the cold, hard numbers to reach 218.
Democrats have to ask themselves if it's worth talking to the other party if they're setting up a Trump derby target.
It was Elon Musk who first tweeted about how bad the original bill was—at Trump's suggestion—and after 70-plus tweets (including some lies), the new president was dragged into the fray.

Over the weekend, Trump denied ceding his presidential powers to his billionaire friend, and mockingly said Musk would never be president:
“You know why? He wasn't born in this country. Hahaha.”
A popular media game is whether two ambitious men will end up fighting each other.
For now, though, Trump's tough talk on Greenland and the Panama Canal shows he's comfortable playing offense, even if nothing comes of it.

The House Ethics report says Matt Gaetz “regularly” paid women for sex, including a teenage girl, and used illegal drugs.
In 2017, the former attorney general “had sex with a 17-year-old girl,” who was also paid.
Gaetz used or possessed illegal drugs such as cocaine and Ecstasy “many times,” and accepted lavish gifts, such as transportation and accommodations in the Bahamas.
“Many of the women who were interviewed by the committee were clear that there was a general expectation of sex,” one woman told the committee that Gaetz paid her more than $5,000 and that the sex was it is involved “99 percent of the time.”
The group said that Gaetz was “uncooperative” and that he “knowingly and willfully sought to obstruct and obstruct the committee's investigation into his conduct.” The Department of Justice investigated but did not prosecute.

Gaetz also misused House resources when he ordered his boss “to help a woman with whom he had sex obtain a passport, falsely representing to the United States Department of State that she was and member…
“There was overwhelming evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules, state and federal laws, and other ethical standards that prohibit prostitution, statutory rape, illegal drug use, the acceptance of unauthorized gifts, the granting of special favors and privileges, and the prohibition of Congress.”
If Gaetz had been running for AG, this would have blown him out of the water.
Gaetz says: “I was charged with nothing: COMPLETELY CLEARED. Even campaign finance violations. And the people who were investigating me hated me. Now, the same DOJ 'witnesses' that were considered unreliable were collected by House Ethics to repeat their statements in their absence. any questions or challenges from me or my advocates I did not have the opportunity to to face the accusers I have never been accused He says he even sent money to the women he was not in love with.
–A Dallas Express reporter found out what happened to Rep. Kay Granger from Texas, who “disappeared” months ago. He found her, and got a recorded confirmation, at a nursing facility that deals with dementia and other memory problems. He made a statement about health problems that missed the point: How could he not tell his constituents about this? Why did he insist on hiding it? There would have been a lot of sympathy for him. Instead, the congresswoman kept everything under wraps.
-Actress Blake Lively was the target of a smear campaign on the Internet, as stated in texts and emails about planting stories to damage her reputation, while warning that this must always be and a secret because they won't really believe they're trying. to “hide” him. “You know we can hide anyone.”

Lively obtained these documents through legal action against her co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, and was reviewed by the New York Times. She alleges sexual harassment, saying that Baldoni and others often came to her trailer anonymously when she was undressed, such as removing body makeup, or breastfeeding.
The Wayfarer agency said the company and its PR people “did nothing or retaliated” against the actor, accusing him of “another desperate attempt to 'fix'” his bad reputation. .
Lively says Baldoni tried to include unnecessary sexual scenes, enhanced unwanted kissing and talked about her sex life, including scenes she may not have consented to. Another member of the group showed him a video of his wife naked.
The sad thing is that this kind of thing goes on all the time. We just got the goods this time, and Lively is portrayed as tough, deaf and a bully.
