The launch follows the sale of 2,000 units of its initial version, which offers manual functionality. It unveiled its latest product at CES 2025.: Smart DoorBox.ai. This new system uses an AI-powered automatic unlocking mechanism that detects when a package has been delivered, allowing seamless delivery even when the recipient is not at home.
DoorBox was founded by Kumar Sundaresan, who experienced the theft of a valuable package containing his father's glasses and watches shortly after delivery. This is Sundaresan's fourth startup. Three companies were previously founded in the technology and online food ordering sectors.

Another feature of the DoorBox is its steel cable that can be attached to a doorknob or other object. The cable is engineered to withstand more than 800 pounds, making it nearly impossible to break, the company says. When playing A 125-decibel alarm will automatically activate and notify the user via the mobile app. Users can turn the alarm on or off at any time using the app. It can hold three to five medium packages.
The mobile app not only sends alarm alerts, but also a surveillance camera that allows users to view live camera feeds when packages are expected. The app also allows users to remotely lock or unlock the DoorBox.
Smart DoorBox.ai costs $400 for the metal version and $300 for the plastic version, with a monthly subscription fee of $20 for the app.
