Dozens injured, trapped in ski lift accident in northern Spain By Reuters

MADRID (Reuters) – A ski plane crashed in a resort in the Spanish region of Aragon on Saturday, injuring dozens of people, nine of them seriously and eight seriously, the regional government said.

About 80 people are still trapped, hanging from a chair at a ski resort in Astun, Huesca province, according to state television.

“It was as if a cable had come out, the chairs had been overturned and people had been thrown out,” a witness told TVE.

The cause of the cable failure is still unknown.

Ski resort officials declined to comment and could not immediately say if any foreigners were among the injured.
