More than 100 people were evacuated by a luxury residential tower in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, until a fire spread over several floors, emergency services said.
Forty people were treated for smoke inhalation and several others were admitted to hospital before the flame was controlled.
The reason for the fire is not yet known.
The 50 -storey building is located in Puerto Madero's exclusive neighborhood.
Alberto CresCenti, head of Buenos Aires emergency services, told local media that the fire had “expanded until the 15th floor”.
The broken glass fell from the windows, he said.
“Fortunately, it was a very quick evacuation, which means that people are not at risk,” he added.
Firefighter Christian Benitez told AFP news agency that all residents are out of danger.
“I heard the fire alarm and went down as I could,” Ornella Grill said at the age of 30 outside the building.
Mariano Pavone, a former football who plays for the Argentine Giants River Plate and the Spanish club Real betis, who lives in the building, told Noticias Argentinas News Agency: “I saw smoke and went down with my son and my dog.
“Fortunately, nothing happened to my apartment. I'm worried about my neighbors. Fortunately, it was just scaring.”
