Elvie's newest product is a smart baby bouncer that converts into a carrycot.

Elvie, a company known for its popular portable breast pumpshows off a new piece of baby gear at CES. It's an app-controlled rocking chair called Rise that can transform into a bassinet with your baby inside.

The $799 device is designed for babies in their first few months of life. Elvy says the bouncer is suitable for babies up to 20lbs or 6 months, while the carrycot is suitable for babies up to 5 months or 22lbs.

While in “bouncer mode,” parents can customize a specific bouncing pattern using the included Elvie Rise Sleep & Soothe app. The company says its “SootheLoop” technology is designed to produce smooth movement that is more similar to that of a caregiver rather than the repetitive movements of a robot. There's also a manual mode that allows babies to bounce as they get bigger and stronger.

In its press release, Elvie said its own research found that two-thirds of babies aged 0 to 3 months often sleep in “unsafe” products such as bouncers or swings. The Rise aims to solve this problem by allowing parents to switch from bouncer mode to bassinet mode without hopefully waking their baby.

The Rise features a “transition knob” that allows parents to switch the device between modes. In lounger mode, this involves pressing the bottom end, near your feet, and squeezing the handle to raise the sides, forming walls. In lounger mode, the straps automatically retract, making the surface suitable for sleeping.

The company says its bassinet meets the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) safe sleep guidelines, although infants should not be left unattended in the bassinet. The device should also be more portable than a regular bassinet. It folds flat for easy transport and has a magnetic charger so it can be used even when not plugged in.

Elvie Rise is now available for pre order. The company plans to begin shipping orders on March 14, 2025.
