Journalists from the Al-Quds Today channel were covering the scene near al-Awda hospital, located in the Nuseirat refugee camp, when their broadcast vehicle was hit by an Israeli jet, Al Jazeera's Anas al-Sharif reported. Thursday morning.

A photo taken in the video of a white van shows the word “press” in large red letters on the back of the van.

The dead journalists are Fadi Hassouna, Ibrahim al-Sheikh Ali, Mohammed al-Ladah, Faisal Abu al-Qumsan and Ayman al-Jadi.

Al Jazeera's Anas al-Sharif reported that Ayman al-Jadi waited for his wife in front of the hospital while she was pregnant to give birth to their first child.

Security forces recovered the bodies of the victims and extinguished the fire at the scene, Quds News Network reported.

There was no immediate comment from Israeli officials.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) earlier this month condemned Israel for killing four Palestinian journalists within a week, calling on the world to hold the country accountable for its violence against journalists.

At least 141 journalists have been killed in Israel's war in Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to CPJ.
