A senior employee of one of the largest political parties in South Africa has been convicted of visiting a self-proclaimed pastor who fled to Malawi after being accused of rape and fraud.

Malawi's Bushiri was one of the most famous preachers in South Africa when he was arrested and charged with fraud in 2020.

Bushiri is a millionaire who creates churches in several African countries.

Bushiri is also charged with rape. He and his wife denied any misconduct.
The Minister of Justice and the Constitutional Development of South Africa Mmamoloko Kubai said that the Shivthabu Association with Busiri was “a gross act of disrespect for the legal system of South Africa.”
She added that this would “strengthen those who believe that they can escape from accountability.”
Shivambu's own MK Party also made a statement to distance himself from his visit, saying that he had taken it “in his personal capacity and without the party's mandate or knowledge.”
The party added that “condemns all forms of gender -based violence and exploitation of vulnerable communities, especially innocent Christian believers, by people who manipulate the belief of personal enrichment or to avoid justice.”
In a post on the X on Saturday, Shivwabu praised the Bushiri for his “good job”.
“Thank you, my brother, the prophet Bushiri, for hosting us for the kind words,” he wrote.
“The size of the government of the government you are doing for economic, educational, social and spiritual increase of our people is unprecedented now and in history.
“I know that Malawi's leadership and people appreciate and appreciate so many massive programs you do for people on the spot.”
He replaced footage shared by Mr. Bushiri, who show that the self-proclaimed pastor asks hundreds of pilgrims in his church Jesus nation to meet the South African politician.
Under the leadership of former President Zuma, the newly formed MK Party came to third place in the election last year, a major factor in the management of the ANC, which lost its majority for the first time after the 1994 democratic elections were introduced.
Shivambu joined the party last August by competitive economic freedom fighters (EFF) and was later appointed Secretary General -one of the best positions of the party.
