Footage shows survivors walking and being pulled from the tail section of a crashed Azerbaijan Airlines plane.
Wednesday's flight from Baku to Grozny in the Russian republic of Chechnya was diverted over the Caspian Sea and crashed near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan.
Some aviation experts suggest it was hit by air defense systems. Russia says it will wait for the results of the investigation before commenting.
Twenty-nine of the 67 people on board survived. On Thursday, Azerbaijan declared a national day of mourning for the victims.
