DETROIT – Ford engineThe company's China operations earned about $600 million last year despite difficult market conditions, CEO Jim Farley said Thursday evening.
“I'm happy that Ford is making money in China and I'm very proud of that because not many (automakers) can say that,” Farley said after unveiling the vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show.
Farley said these revenues include exports of vehicles like the Lincoln Nautilus, which is manufactured exclusively in China and destined for other markets such as the U.S.
China is an increasingly demanding market for carmakers, especially Western companies such as Ford and General Motors.
Ford doesn't break out earnings by region, but Farley has previously touted the company's evolving “asset-intensive” strategy in China.
