The company was founded by Mark Mao, formerly CEO of Huami, the Chinese smart wearable company behind Fitbit rival Amazfit. Mao came up with the idea for SATELLAI after discovering that his dog had injured its leg while he was away. The smart collar is equipped with seven sensors that monitor the pet's health, including the pet's breathing rate and heart rate, according to the company.
While there's a wide range of pet trackers and smart collars available, SATELLAI says its offerings stand out in a number of ways. For example, The tracker uses a Qualcomm 9205S modem to connect directly to satellite tracking without the need for a ground signal like LTE. This means that a location will be continuously broadcast even in remote areas where there are no nearby cell towers. The company claims it is the first dog tracker to offer this type of direct satellite connection.
The tracker has a cord with a built-in solar panel so it can be recharged while the dog is wearing it.
In addition, The SATELLAI collar uses dual signal transmitters for L1 (the oldest GPS signal) and L5 (the most advanced) signal.
