Former US President Bill Clinton was hospitalized with a fever


Former US President Bill Clinton has been hospitalized after developing a fever, according to a spokesman for the Democrat.

“He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving,” Angel Ureña wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

He said Clinton was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington on Monday night for tests and observation after developing a fever.

Mr. Ureña's statement did not provide further details about the Arkansas Democrat's condition, although US media indicated Clinton was expected to recover.

This was said by a source close to Clinton NBC News that the situation was “not urgent” and the former president would be “fine”. The news network reported that Clinton was awake and alert.

It is the latest health concern for the 42nd US president, who was in the White House from 1993 to 2001.

Clinton, 78, was last hospitalized for six days in 2021. in California after developing an infection in his blood. He is also known to have suffered from heart problems in the past.

In 2004, aged 58, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery after doctors found signs of extensive heart disease, and ten years later a blocked artery was opened after he complained of chest pains.

Shortly after his second surgery, the former president, known for his love of fatty foods, became a vegan. He told Politico in 2016, “I might not be here if I hadn't gone vegan. It's great.”

Clinton was active on the presidential campaign trail this year as she traveled the country to promote Vice President Kamala Harris' bid for the presidency.
