Four killed in an attack in the center of Kyiv, Ukraine reported

Four people were killed in a Russian air strike on Kiev last night, local authorities said.

The city's mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, said air defenses were in place around the Ukrainian capital.

Windows were broken in the Shevchenko district, including at a metro station, and a fire broke out in a non-residential building, he added. It is unclear what was targeted.

Authorities warned of a ballistic missile threat and urged local residents to take shelter.
