Gardners Candies is recalling some Meltaway Cappuccino Bars because their packaging lacks a tree nut disclaimer.
The recalled 1.25-ounce packages of the candy “may contain undeclared tree nuts (cashews),” the Pennsylvania-based company said in a statement released Friday by the FDA.
call In the notice, Gardners Candies said: “After it was determined that the product contained tree nuts was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of tree nuts.”

Meltaway Cappuccino Bars are subject to the recall with lot number #082725 and an expiration date of 08/27/25.

Gardners Candies said the recalled products are part of Meltaway Treat Boxes containing assorted flavors numbered 101625 or 112525.

People who are allergic or highly sensitive to tree nuts are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat Meltaway Cappuccino Bars, the notice states.

The affected Gardners Candies product has not caused any illness to date, the recall notice states.

Gardners Candies said consumers who purchased the recalled Meltaway Cappuccino or Meltaway Treat Boxes should contact them for a replacement.
They were being sold in stores and by mail nationwide starting in September, the recall notice said.
The FDA said the company linked the issue to a “temporary failure in the company's manufacturing and packaging processes.” It has halted production of Meltaway Bars cappuccinos “until the company is satisfied that the problem has been corrected,” according to the notice.
Gardner candy It dates back to the late 1800s. According to its website, it has stores in several cities in Pennsylvania and also sells its pastries at more than 100 retailers in three states.
