Gaza Hospital struck by Israeli blow, Hamas says

An Israeli blow has destroyed the intensive care and surgery departments of the main medical facility in Gaza, Hamas said.

A video posted online appeared to show huge flames and smoke, rising from the Baptist Hospital Al-Ali after the missiles hit a two-storey building. People, including some patients who are still in hospital beds, were filmed to rush away from the site.

A local journalist said the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) called a doctor and received an evacuation warning.

Hamas called the strike a “horrifying crime” by Israel, which said he was considering reports.

According to the Civil Service, no casualties have been reported.

The local journalist who worked at the hospital said an Israeli army official called a doctor operating in the emergency room and asked them to evacuate the hospital immediately.

“All patients and displaced people have to come up at a safe distance,” the employee reports.

“You only have 20 minutes to leave.”

Social media footage showed staff and patients leaving the building while it was still dark out.

Dozens of Palestinians, including women and children, were also seen running from a courtyard to the hospital where they were looking for asylum.

Al -Ali – a small medical facility before the war – is now the only hospital that is still functioning in the city of Gaza after the destruction of Al-Shifa Medical Complex and hospitals in the northern part of the tape.

In his statement, Hamas's government office condemned the attack.
