In September, as the mass rape trial that shocked people around the world was just beginning, Gisèle Pelicot said she wanted people to know her name.

And now all 51 men accused in connection with drugs, rape and sexual assault of Gisèle they were found guilty by the French court, we can meet them.

One of these men was Pelicot's ex-husband, Dominique Pelicot, who was sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison for drugging and raping his wife for almost a decade and inviting other men into their home to participate.

1. Dominik Pelicot: Guilty of aggravated rape of his ex-wife Gisèle. He is 72 years old and married Gisèle in 1973. The now divorced couple had three children, and Gisele has stated that she thought their marriage was a happy one. Professionally, Pelicot seemed to struggle, working as an electrician and then in real estate, but had to ask family members for loans. Addressing the court in September, he stated that he had a difficult upbringing and had become a rape victim himself. He said he wanted his wife to participate in a partner swap and her refusal, coupled with trauma from his youth, contributed to triggering his aggressive behavior. On Thursday, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

2. Jean-Pierre Marechal: Guilty of attempted rape and aggravated rape of his wife, as well as of drugging her. He was the only defendant not charged with raping or abusing Gisèle Pelicot. Instead, encouraged by Dominique Pelicot, he drugged his own wife and allowed Pelicot to come to his house to rape her on several occasions. He worked at a garden center and had no criminal record before his arrest. Some of his six children testified on his behalf. Sentenced to 12 years. He is 63 years old.

3. Charly Arbo: He will be charged with aggravated rape. He is 30 years old. He visited the Pelicots' home six times between 2018 and 2020. The first time he was 22 years old and Gisèle was 64. 5. Hieronim Vilela: He will be charged with serious rape. Age 46. In 2020, he visited the Pelicot home six times in just over three months. He told investigators he had a difficult childhood, with unloving parents and bullying at school. He used to be a volunteer firefighter, but he struggled with sex addiction and had a history of infidelity and breakups. The father of three pleaded guilty to rape charges and said he knew Gisèle was under the influence of drugs. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

6. Dominique Davies: He will be charged with aggravated rape. Davies, 45, a truck driver and former soldier, raped Gisèle during six visits to the Pelicots' home starting in 2015. Davies, who grew up in foster care, told police he began visiting the now-shuttered website coco.fr, where he became involved with Dominique Pelicot due to his wife's lack of sexual desire. The police report states that his arousal was fueled by the fact that Gisèle was “totally submissive and reduced to a sex object”. He said he left his clothes outside the door on the patio of the Pelicot house so he could escape quickly if Gisèle woke up. In court, he admitted that “significant facts” emerged from the video footage, but stated that he had “no intention to commit a crime.” He was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

7. Romain Vandevelde: Guilty of grave rape according to the BBC. Age 63 years. Court documents show that Vandevelde had a painful childhood. The fourth of nine children, his home was extremely violent and he was raped as a child. He married, joined the army, and later divorced. He visited the Pelicots' home six times in 2019 and 2020, claiming in court that he felt lonely. He admitted that he knew he was HIV positive when he raped Gisèle without a condom. He said he was being treated for the disease and could not transmit the virus. He denied the rape accusations and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

8. Joseph Cocco: Guilty of aggravated sexual assault. Cocco (69) was sentenced to three years in prison, two of which were suspended, The Guardian reports. According to the New York Times.he is a swinger and showed up at the Pelicot house for what he thought was a threesome. After “stroking her butt”, he told the court that he left when he heard Gisèle snoring.

9. Christian Lescole: Guilty of aggravated rape and sentenced to nine years, according to the BBC. The publication added that he is a volunteer firefighter and has two daughters. He is 57 years old, he says Guardian.

10. Lionel Rodriguez: According to him, he was guilty of attempted rape with aggravating factors and sentenced to eight years in prison Independent. Rodriguez, 44, worked in the same supermarket where Dominique Pelicot was caught filming women's skirts, leading to a police investigation against him.
