Hugging Face sues AI startup FriendliAI for alleged copyright infringement


Hugging Face AI developer platform Hugging Face is suing Korean AI startup FriendliAI, alleging that it infringes one of its patents.

For one Fol On Friday in Delaware Northern District Court, FriendliAI reached a “confidentiality agreement” with Hugging Face on Jan. 8, agreeing to dismiss its lawsuit with “prejudice,” meaning it cannot be brought back to court.

“FriendliAI and Hugging Face hereby agree to dismiss this case without cost or compensation to any party,” the filing states. “The court shall retain jurisdiction over the parties' settlement agreement.”

Hugging Face did not respond to a press request for comment.

In a lawsuit filed nearly two years ago, FriendliAI accused Brooklyn-based Hugging Face of infringing its patent for “repeated level scheduling.” California Founded in 2021, VC-backed FriendliAI, with an office in Redwood City, primarily develops infrastructure solutions for AI.
