I switched from A. Google Pixel 3 XL to Apple's iPhone 12 Pro Max In 2021, and in the years I missed, I glad I missed Google is for me. This feature is so useful that I am shocked that it has not been brought to the iPhone, and even other Android phones in the years. Hold for me saves me from the misery to hear terrible music for retention whenever I had to call a business, my health insurance provider, my mobile phone carrier, or any other huge tasks for adults still looking to talk to a representative. Instead, Google's feature would help silence my phone as I kept the call active, listen to the tune music for me and then ringtons when it's time to get back to the call as I warned the representative that I would come back soon.
And so on Conference on World Control Developers 2025When Apple has announced Hold help – What sounds terribly similar to Pixel holding for me- I was thrilled. I have entered the switch back to Android for Speculated pixel 10Partly because I missed having these call controls on everyday topics. But with iOS 26Hold help you need to detect music for retention, and then give you the opportunity to silence the call while keeping it active. Then, when the representative returns, the phone will notify you when it is time to return to the call. We have to wait at least until the public beta start trying this feature, but on paper, it sounds almost exactly how Pixel function.
The “Hold for me” function debuted in 2020 with Pixel 5 and 4a.
While I am glad that the iPhone will finally have the equivalent of this feature, it is worth noting that it takes a long time for such calls for calls to go beyond Google's Pixel line. Google Introduced to me In 2020, but most other Android phones made by Samsung, OnePlus and others do not include their own idea.
The new call screening feature for iOS 26 is similar to Pixel Call Screen OptionBut it sounds like Apple's translation will have more automated access. Apple's call screen will gather information on how the person's name and purpose from an unknown caller for you, and then present them as a summary to help you decide if you should collect them. You can also send more instructions as needed if you are still not sure.
In iOS 26, the Hold Assist will retain the call to stay active, but the phone will be silenced.
Google's solution allows you to select the questions that are asked to the caller and, instead of a summary, you see the text transcription of the call.
What I appreciate the most for these features is that they remember that iPhone is a phone at the end of the day. And spam callers remain just as much problem now as always, especially as Ai voice clones Add even more problems to the types of frauds trying to reach people.
While these features are not available when iOS 26 arrives later this year, I will only continue to carry patience until the next time I have to call my health insurance provider. And, holding your fingers intersecting, posture music can become something of the past when retention help becomes widely available.
