The Israeli army added: “An anti-tank rifle and heavy artillery aimed at IDF positions were also found near the tunnel.”
The IDF said the underground tunnel is connected to Hezbollah command center which contained rockets used to fire at Israel during the war, “as well as a large number of explosives.”
The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) called on Thursday for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, saying that Israel had violated the ceasefire agreement of November 27 with Hezbollah. sponsored by Iran, Reuters reports.
Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a 60-day ceasefire imposed by the US that calls for the Israeli army to withdraw in phases after more than a year of fighting, according to a 2006 UN Security Council resolution which ended their last great war.

Under the agreement, Hezbollah fighters must leave areas in southern Lebanon and move north of the Litani River, which runs about 20 kilometers north of the Israeli border, as well as withdraw from the whole of Israel in the south.
Definition of UNIFIL drew attention to what it said was the continued destruction by Israeli forces of settlements, fields and infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
“UNIFIL continues to encourage the timely withdrawal of the Israeli Defense Forces and the deployment of the Lebanese Army (in the area of Hezbollah) in southern Lebanon, as well as the full implementation of Resolution 1701 as a complete path to peace,” the statement said.
The Israeli military told Reuters it was looking into UNIFIL's criticism but had no further comment.

Under the ceasefire arrangement, Israeli forces can withdraw from southern Lebanon for 60 days, but neither side can launch an offensive.
The Lebanese army told Reuters it was following UNIFIL and the committee that oversees the ceasefire agreement regarding continued Israeli operations in southern Lebanon.

UNIFIL said it will continue to monitor the area south of the Litani River to ensure it is free of personnel and weapons, except those belonging to the Lebanese government and UNIFIL.
