Instagram is testing a way to show you Story Highlights that you didn't get to see.

Instagram is testing a way to see content from friends you might have missed. The social network is starting to show story highlights unseen by a user's interactive followers at the end of the story tray. At the top of your feed, which is the area at the top of your feed where you see stories from your friends.

“We're always working on new ways to help people connect in Stories, and most recently we've been experimenting with bringing Highlights to the end of the tray with small groups of people,” a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch.

This activity was first spotted by a social media expert. Ahmed Ghanem.

Instagram is packed with things like Reels and sponsored posts, so it's easy to miss updates from people you actually follow. The social network's latest beta feature has been tested in a way to make sure you don't miss out on original content from your friends and family.

Meta notes that users will be able to see unseen story highlights from last week.

Only when you go through all the current stories in the tray will you see unseen story highlights. That is, if you follow the crowd and don't always get your end of the story tray. It means you won't see the obvious.

It's worth noting that the feature won't show standard stories, which disappear after 24 hours, and will only show story highlights, which are short stories that users have saved to their profile.
