Apple got rid of the volume bar from the Lock Screen when it released iOS 16 in 2022. That meant you had to use the volume buttons on the side of your iPhone if you wanted to turn up and down the volume of music or announcements without unlocking your iPhone.

Pressing those buttons raises or lowers your volume by a certain amount, but it can leave you choosing between too loud or too quiet a volume. With iOS 18.2, you can move the volume bar back to your lock screen so you can more precisely control the volume without unlocking your iPhone.

Here's how to reintroduce the volume bar on your lock screen with iOS 18.2.

How to get the volume bar on your iPhone

1. Open it Settings.
2. Tap Accessibility.
3. Tap Audio and visual under Hearing.
4. Tap the switch to Always show volume control.
