Mediators, in talks in Egypt and Qatar, are trying to reach an agreement to end the 14-month siege that would include the release of prisoners captured in Israel on October 7, 2023, along with Palestinian prisoners who were arrested. and Israel.

The mediators managed to reduce the gaps in the previous sessions but differences remained, the sources said.

In Gaza, medics said at least 13 Palestinians were killed overnight in Israeli airstrikes, including two buildings in Gaza City and a central camp.

Medics said an Israeli airstrike killed nine people near the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, while another killed four others at a construction site near Beit Lahiya in the north. There was no comment from Israel.

Later on Thursday, airstrikes killed at least 15 Palestinians in two houses owned by displaced families in Tuffah in eastern Gaza, medics said, bringing the death toll to 41 on Thursday.

The Israeli army said it struck Hamas fighters who were working as security guards in the former Al-Karama and Sha'ban Schools in Tuffah. He added that Hamas used the site to organize and stage demonstrations against its forces.
