Israel has taken out its forces from South Lebanon from five positions, says the State Agency of Lebanon. Israel's withdrawal is a key part of the cessation of fire, which ended with an annual conflict with the Shi -Hezbollae militia group.
Israeli ministers said some troops would remain inside Lebanon to protect the northern communities of Israel.
In response, Lebanon said Israel should withdraw completely. It says he will consider “the continuing Israeli presence in every inch of Lebanese territory for occupation.”
The termination of fire requires Israel to withdraw the army of Lebanon to replace all armed groups south of the Litani River, about 30 km (20 miles) north of Israel.
Hezbollah has been the dominant force in the area for decades, but has been severely damaged in the conflict, the most deadly fighting with Israel, since in 1982 the militant group was established.
The Lebanese authorities claim that more than 3,960 people – many civilians – were killed during hostilities, and one million others were displaced by areas where Hezbollah had a strong presence.
Israeli authorities say more than 80 Israeli soldiers and 47 civilians have been killed. About 60,000 citizens were displaced by northern Israel.
Most of the dispatchers in Lebanon have returned home, the UN says, while only a minority of the displaced in Israel did, according to reports.
The positions in which the Israeli Forces troops (IDF) are located are in the mountainous terrain on the edge of the internationally recognized border between Lebanon and Israel.
On Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said the IDF “temporarily remained in five strategically high points”. He added that this was “necessary for our security”.
“After Lebanon fully realizes his side of the deal, there will be no need to hold these points,” he told a press conference in Jerusalem.
The Lebanese soldiers moved to the areas liberated from Israeli troops and began clearing obstacles and checking for unexplored ammunition, the Associated Press agency said on Tuesday.
It says that some peasants have been drilled to return to their homes, many of whom have been blown up in the conflict.
“I am very happy to return, even if I find my home destroyed,” says the 36 -year -old Arab Arabi, who returned to the village of Kfar Kila with his wife and two daughters. “If I find that my house has been destroyed, I will restore it.”
Israel's withdrawal was postponed from the original 60 -day period – which fell on January 26 – provided for in the truce.
In a publication on social media on Tuesday, Kat said: “The activities of IDF against Hezbollah will continue with full force. We will not allow a return to reality on October 7 (2023), ” – citing the date when the Palestinian Hamas artillerymen made an unprecedented attack against Israel from Gaza.
The next day, Hezbollah began his military campaign against Israel, saying it was acting in solidarity with the Palestinians.
