President Biden recent announcement that the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) had become the “law of the land” caused laughter during his last days in office. Biden is not immune to being insulted by Vice President-elect JD Vance.
Vance responded to Biden's announcement in a post on X, joking that Biden should post an embarrassing MLB photo. Pete Rose in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
“Hey Joe if we do s— on our way out, can you announce Pete Rose to the Hall of Fame?” Vance wrote. “I'll see you in two days!”
Rose, who died back in September, was banned from MLB for life for illegal betting on sports.

Rose was forbidden in 1989 after an investigation concluded that he not only bet on MLB games, but went so far as to bet on games involving the Cincinnati Reds when he managed the team.
Rose signed an agreement with Commissioner Bart Giamatti declaring him ineligible for baseball but allowing him to apply for reinstatement and avoid an official announcement that he was gambling on baseball. Rose's numerous requests for reinstatement over the past few decades have been unsuccessful.
As a player, Rose won three World Series titles, two with the Reds and one with the Phillies, while making 17 All-Star appearances and winning the NL MVP in 1973. He still has the record for most hits in MLB history with 4,256.

However, his gambling scandal has made him one of the most controversial figures in the Baseball Hall of Fame since his retirement. His absence from the Hall of Fame is one of the game's strongest controversies.
So Vance had no qualms about talking about Rose's Hall of Fame controversy to mock the outgoing president.
Quoting the American Bar Association in the statement, Biden argued that the ERA “cleared all the necessary hurdles to be legally added to the Constitution.” Biden added that he agreed with “the ABA and leading constitutional scholars that the Equal Rights Amendment has become part of our Constitution.” However, despite Biden's argument, the National Archives disagrees.
