Judge extends Megan Thee Stallion's protection order against rapper Tory Lanez until 2030

Megan Thee Stallion has been banned from contacting imprisoned rapper Tory Lanez until the early 2030s.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom on Thursday granted Megan's request for a protection order after the hip-hop star alleged that Lanez harassed her in prison through surrogates while serving a 10-year sentence for shooting her in the foot .

The order was issued after the hearing. Michael Hayden, Lanez's attorney, wrote in an opposition to the restraining order request that his client's incarceration means there is “no longer any form of present or future threat” to Megan and there has been no direct contact between them recently.

In a summary of Thursday's hearing, Bloom said Megan's lawyers met their burden of proof and extended the temporary restraining order until January 9, 2030.

Hayden did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment on Friday.

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion

A US judge on Tuesday sentenced Canadian rapper Tory Lanez to 10 years in prison for shooting and wounding hip-hop superstar Megan Thee Stallion.

Megan was granted a temporary injunction in November after she alleged that Lanez, a Canadian rapper whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, uses third parties to continue harassing her online.

The petition says that call logs from the California Correctional Facility in Tehachapi show Lanez coordinating attacks on Megan's credibility, including making false claims that a gun and bullet fragments are missing in the case.

In December 2022, Lanez was convicted of three felonies: assault with a semi-automatic weapon; possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm due to gross negligence.

The judge denied a request for a new trial filed by Lanez's lawyers, who are appealing the verdict.

Megan testified during the trial that Lanez fired a gun into the back of her feet and shouted at her to dance as she walked away from the SUV they were both in after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Hills home.

Megan (29) was already a rising star at the time of filming, and since then her music has skyrocketed in popularity. She won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2021, and her single went to number one Cruelfeaturing Beyoncé and as a guest on Cardi B's WAP.

Lanez, 32, began releasing mixtapes in 2009 and has seen a steady rise in popularity, moving into major label albums. His last two reached the top ten on the Billboard charts.
