Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick is one of the thousands in Los Angeles whose home did not escape the wildfires that destroyed the area this week.
Redick was in Dallas for the game when he learn about fires and that his family has fled.
Speaking to the media Friday, a day after the Lakers' game at Crypto.com Arena was postponed, he opened up about his experience returning to the Palisades and what he saw.

“I'm fine. My wife went out early in the morning. She was actually on the other side and she went out, she saw the fire, she was with some people, and she was going to the station- plane. … I got the kids at school. All that mattered,” he said.

“I went to the hotel, got up at 7, went up to the Palisades. I had to see for myself. I wasn't prepared for what I saw. It's total destruction and destruction. I had to go the other way to the house but through the size of the city, and it's all over, I don't think you can prepare for something like that.

Redick's home was vandalized Thursday.
“We spent a year trying to figure out where we were going to be long-term, and everything we had was important to us – about 20 years of being together and 10 years of parenting – it was in that house,” comments. Redick said. There are certain things you can't replace.
“Things are whatever they are. Me and my family, we're dealing with our side, the personal side of losing your home. You don't want to wish that on anybody. It's a terrible feeling to lose your home.. I don't know if I've cried or howled like that for a few years.
