The LG G5 OLED TV takes the brightness even higher
This new high-end TV looks like an early contender for the best picture quality in 2025.
Hi guys, I really appreciate picture quality, and this TV right here might be the best picture quality I've ever seen. This is the LG G5. I didn't have much time to see him now. It's a brand new TV, but this OLED TV looks great from what I've seen. So the big difference between the G5 and last year's G4 is brightness. LG said it improved brightness levels by 40%. Now I can test that later. I'll have to take his word for it now, but seeing it here at LG. Demo pack, it looks really bright and of course the impact combined with the brightness with the black levels of the OLED, so the blackness of the screen is really really dark even in a room with high ambient light. Now that's pretty important. It's not the brightest room but there is some lighting here and I can see that the black levels are preserved despite the fact that there is some lighting in the room and you get a really great combination of contrast because of that better black level and again they say they are better than last year. Throwing out that ambient light and keeping that great contrast, I was able to take a quick look at the G5's image quality and I have to say it's really impressive from what I saw. Now this is not a true side by side comparison with its competitors. That's my take on television, but it's really bright. I watched in vivid mode, which is the brightest image quality mode. The more accurate cinema modes will be slightly less bright, but everything seems to live up to that improved brightness and of course excellent blacks. Levels. I'm pretty excited about it all. They have also added a 165Hz refresh rate which for gaming can lead to some improvement. But in short, it's very similar to last year's G4, except for improved brightness and room ambient light rejection. This TV is now available in 55- to 97-inch sizes, but only the 83-, 77-, 65-, and 55-inch sizes retain all those picture quality gains. It will be expensive, there is no price for this to come out a little later. Year, so we'll see how it fares against the best OLED TVs later this year. So this isn't the only TV I've checked out here at LG. They also have their own transparent TV from last year. It's now on the market for around $60,000 so you know, get your wallets out. This is really cool technology that can go from completely transparent to flipping a small black panel to look more like a regular TV, truly the first designer TV. Still amazing technology, but. Incredibly expensive. They also have their M5 series, which is their wireless display technology, so they say the picture quality is the same as the G. It will be more expensive, of course, because it uses a separate box to send signals from your game console, your cable box or whatever on the TV wirelessly. So they improved that wireless technology a bit. They say you can now put that box in a cabinet, which is pretty cool as long as there's no metal in the cabinet, and that will allow transmission to take place between the box and. The TV again looks really exactly like the HDMI cable from the demo they put up here. Pretty cool about that. LG also announces the C5 series of OLED TVs. It was my favorite high-end TV for the money last year, very similar to the 2024 model, although they say that like the G, it's a bit brighter, so we'll check that out as well. It's also available in a wider range of screen sizes. That's a lot of OLED TVs from LG here at CES 2025. I can't wait to check them out a bit later this year.
