For days now, Fires in Los Angeles County raged through communities and destroyed more than 27,000 acres and 2,000 homes, businesses and other structures. The fires displaced thousands of people as they fled the blazes for safety.
For those interested in helping with relief efforts, we've rounded up resources for those in need, organizations you can donate to, and ways to support those dealing with the devastation caused by these fires.
We created this list from evaluations Charity Navigatorwhich rates charities based on their financial health, accountability and transparency. Charity Navigator has awarded a “Give with Confidence” designation to the organizations listed below. Before donating, you should make sure that the given charity aligns with your values and that the donation is used in ways that you want. Charity Navigator also compiled list of highly rated charities which provide relief and recovery to those affected by the Palisades, Eaton and other wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is engaged in wildfire relief efforts to shelter families, serve meals, support emergency services, provide medical care and deliver emergency supplies. Baby2Baby is providing diapers, food, formula and critical hygiene items to children and families affected by the fires. You can make a donation or search for volunteer opportunities here.
California Community Foundation

California Fire Foundation
The California Fire Foundation is providing emergency financial assistance to victims. You can donate to wildfire and disaster relief here.
Direct relief
Direct relief is mobilizing to deliver critical medical supplies and financial assistance to health care facilities serving those affected by the raging fires across LA County.
Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation
The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation provides critical equipment, technology and emergency resources to support LAFD crews fighting fires. You can make a donation here.
Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is providing emergency food assistance to families and residents affected by the wildfires raging across LA County. The food bank accepts food donations at our two distribution centers from 8am to 5pm located at:

Fires also affect animals. Pasadena Humana rescues, shelters and reunites pets with their owners exposed by the Southern California wildfires.

Other ways to help and stay safe
Here are some other ways to help the fire relief efforts besides donating money or supplies:
- Avoid trip to Southern California, even if you're trying to help.
- Research local churches or faith-based organizations that may be accepting donations or purchases.
- Text instead of calling. Emergency management urges you to call only when necessary. Texting will keep the lines open for emergency communications.
- Foster or adopt animals from shelters to make room for pets coming from fire-affected communities.
- Reach out to people you know who live in Southern California and who may be affected by concerns, smoke and fire damage
