'Lost counts…': Vir Sanghvi slams Air India for disappointing experience, airline responds

Author Vir Sanghvi shared his frustrating experience with Air India on social media and asked how often the airline had done such things with other passengers.

Sharing an update on his booking with the airline showing him being demoted, Sanghvi wrote in a post on X, “Have I lost count of the number of times @airindia has done this to so many passengers? Why do premium passengers book @airindia? Is it really time for Campbell Wilson to manage the airline? This never happened regularly until @TataCompanies took over.

His post immediately struck a chord with other users, with one user commenting, “Feel like @airindia is still running like public sector even after privatisation. Government elites who insist on the upper classes push the salaried commuters to the lower classes. I guess I'm wrong, but actions doesn't look like a private operator.

Sanghvi replied, “Nothing to do with private or public. Bad management at the top means bad management across the board. Very different like Tatas. ”

Another user also highlighted a personal story. “@airindia poorest service ever. They are not informed and the passengers suffer a lot. In my case my grandfather who is a senior citizen is 86 years old and we paid for the service but had to wait for 6 hours without a wheelchair. And the airline takes no responsibility,” she wrote.

In its response, the airline wrote, “Dear Mr. Sanghvi, Thank you for taking the time to call. As requested, we have provided you with details of charges for upgrading to Business Class. Please ensure that you are eligible for a full refund for compensation in the event of a cancellation or downgrade to economy class. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you and appreciate your kind understanding.”
