Marine Le Pen found guilty of the EU funding case

The French marine Le Pen was found guilty of assigning European funds to fund her far -right national rally (RN) in a case that could lead to the fact that she would be banned from standing in the 2027 presidential election.

The judge has not yet said what the sentence will be.

Prosecutors said last year that Le Pen's sentence should be not only € 300,000 (250,000 British pounds) fine and prison, but also unacceptable to run for a public office for five years.

Most importantly, he said that the unacceptability should start immediately – and not be stopped in anticipation of the complaint that is expected to file a sea pen if convicted.

The judges could also decide not to impose automatic unacceptability with their sentence, which would leave her free to stand in 2027 during the contested process.

The court can also give her an automatic unacceptability time – to say one year – which will make her run possible.

Le Pen was accused, along with more than 20 other senior parties figures, for hiring assistants who worked in her party affairs, not for the European Parliament, which he paid them.

During the trial last year, Le Pen denied that she had done the “smallest irregularity”.

It is expected that the sentence began, which began shortly after 10:00 (09:00), to take up to two hours.
